A Holiday Evening of Lights

by Cathy on November 3, 2011

The farmers’ market season may be over for the year, but the Bavarian Nut Company is busier than ever.  Cinnamon roasted almonds are a traditional European holiday treat  and I have a long list of events that I participate in before Thanksgiving and Christmas.   I was at Al’s Garden Center in Sherwood last night taking part in a fund raiser for a local school.  Al’s is the most beautiful, amazing nursery I have ever seen, and they are kicking off their holiday season with an Evening of Lights.  Their garden center will be open this evening (Thursday, Nov. 3) from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Here you will find every imaginable variety of poinsettia plus gifts and home decor from all over the world.  When you walk through the front door you  step into a holiday fantasy world of light, color and  greenery.  If you live near by I hope you will come to the party and take time to visit my booth.  Just follow the intoxicating aroma of vanilla, cinnamon and roasting almonds (customers tell me they think of cinnamon rolls when they smell the roasting nuts) and you will find me.  I took a few pictures last night so you can get an idea of what Al’s Garden Center is like.  There is nothing like it anywhere else and I hope to see you there.  I will be at Al’s in Woodburn tomorrow night as well.

I believe that’s the fanciest garden center I’ve ever seen.

Cathy, this is just beautiful. I love events like this and would love to come to your booth if I lived close enough. The nativity scene is different than any I’ve seen, very neat. We have a Festival of Trees where I live that is beautiful as well but not at a garden center this is just great. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh. I wish I could drop by Cathy. Would love to meet you and see your booth. When we lived in Houston a big garden center had open houses such as this. Brings back fond memories of city life and glamour.

Come to think of it, when I was growing up my grandmother’s cousins had a flower shop and although it was not as spectacular an event such as this, their Christmas show was one of the highlights of my childhood. Because of their show I even flirted for a moment with being a florist, but my first love was always the business world. C’est la vie.
