Veggie Bagel Sandwich

I love a good sandwich. They are easy to assemble with endless variations of ingredients and are good any time of day.  Even if I weren’t counting calories right now this would be my lunch time choice at least once a week.  It starts with a really good bagel, Panera Bread’s are the best where I live and plain is my favorite.  A good smear of cream cheese goes onto each toasted bagel half, followed by a thin slice of red onion, sliced tomato, salt and pepper, then a good handful of clover sprouts.  A sprinkling of sunflower seeds finishes it off.

A little drizzle of vinaigrette, a slice of Black Forest ham or a bit of lox are delicious additions  to this wonderful sandwich. I haven’t figured out the calories here, but I know there aren’t a lot.   What’s your favorite sandwich?  Find more  recipes on the Reader’s Digest website.

Here you’re putting sprouts on your bagel and I’m slathering mine with left over Bacon Jalapeno Dip:@) It really does look great Cathy. If I’m gonna have a sandwich, this Philly girl opts for a hoagie!

Cathy, I agree with you about Panera bagels. They are so good, and I live in the Bagel Capitol of the America!!! Some are just too thick and dough-y and have that weird flavor of malt? I am not sure just what it is, I do not care for it. This sounds wonderful. And Panera’s low fat cream cheese flavors are delicious. I love the onion and chive, blueberry and honey walnut. xo

What a wonderful sandwich, Cathy! I’ve been growing my own sprouts lately :) I love a good sandwich and when I crave a really good one Panera is where I go. I don’t often make sandwiches at home but my favorites when I do are tuna or egg salad.

We used to have a sandwich shop in town that had the best bagel sandwiches. Your post made me miss that shop! They were so delicious, and his bagels fresh from the oven were the very best!!!

This sure looks healthy good; don’t see any sprouts at all at this time of the year.
I love adding them to my food.

I’ve never actually eaten a sandwich on a bagel before. I could get addicted to the one you have featured here. Those sprouts on top look amazing! I love those on a sandwich so much. I bet this would be delicious with smooshed avocado in place of the cream cheese too. Yum!

I miss bagels, but we’ve switched to English muffins because of the calories. Your bagel is so pretty with the sprouts Cathy. My favorite sandwich is a BLT or pimento cheese. But again because of the calories and fat, pimento cheese isn’t on the menu (sigh) very often anymore.

I love Panaera’s bagels and bread, but I don’t get there as often as I would like. But aren’t they fantastic!
