Is it a bird?…Is it a plane?…No, it’s Captain Power Washer!

Portland’s Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade ~ photo by rockandroll.com

It’s a rare Memorial Day weekend in Oregon that isn’t a little damp and overcast.  Our famous Rose Festival Celebration started on Friday and more often than not Parade Day next week will bring at least a few hours of showers.  Nobody minds at all and Portlanders turn out by the thousands to take part in the festivities. The highways to the Oregon coast are always clogged this weekend so we prefer to stay home and have our get aways sometime other than busy holiday weekends.  It’s a good time to get the yard in shape for summer barbecues and potlucks.  Power washing my two large patios and driveway has been on my to-do list for a long time and when I got a bid of $400 to have the job done by a local contractor my sweet son volunteered to rent the washer and do it for me.  It was a BIG, MESSY job and I’m so happy with the results I could jump up and down for joy! The washer was powerful as you can see and I managed to snap a few pictures as my son was getting used to it. Any more power and he could have become airborne.

 All systems “go”

Lift Off!

I hope you are enjoying a very happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend. Thanks, John.  Job well done.

Love this Kathy! The last picture made me smile. What a nice son you have to do that for you. My brother bought a power washer a few years ago and let us use it last year. My husband tried to do the side of my house. I thought he was going to take all of the siding off..lol

Yes, I do have a very nice son, Raina. Those washers can do real damage like blasting off the house paint. We had no mishaps and I’m sooo happy with my clean patios.

I think every mother, who reads this, can’t help but smile. It’ so nice when one of our kids helps us out, like that. Enjoy your summer, and fire up that grill! I’m like you– when big touristy things happen on my corner of the world, I hole up at home. I’m not fond of fighting traffic at all.

Ha – that’s great! A useful “toy” ;) . Although I can’t see a power washer without thinking of that commercial (have you seen it…husband destroys wife’s beautiful table setting on back patio with power washer?). Hope you’re having a wonderful long weekend !

Isn’t it great when our kids help us! Such fun pictures!! I used a power washer when we lived on the ranch and I know how easy it is to peel paint off with them, I might have done that:-)

How great that your son volunteered! I’m afraid I’d need to pull the “mom card” to have a project like that completed! Hope you had a great weekend Cathy and enjoy your nice clean patio:@)

Lol! That used to be a yearly ritual here too, but never again. We use Olympic Deck wash and it does it all. The bricks looks like new, and no damage to the wood.
Enjoy your nice clean areas!

Power washers are TOO fun to use and in the wrong hands (mine) they can be very dangerous—our one sliding patio door will never be the same! Good thing my DH is a very forgiving man; good thing your son knew what he was doing:)
LOVED your Farmer’s Market photos…SO hoping to make it there this year and pick up some of your very wonderful looking trail mix!
Blessings,
Aimee
