Farmers’ Market Notes ~ In Living Color

by Cathy on July 26, 2012

The farmers’ market opening bell will ring in 15 minutes and I want to take a quick walk through the market to see what is new this week.   Won’t you come along?  The colors right now are spectacular! Have you ever seen blooming Artichokes?

Booths are filled with Eggplant, Potatoes, and Beans

Colorful bouquets of flowers are everywhere

Pattypan Squash and Garlic

Cherries and Apricots from Baird Family Orchard

This is the best Apricot I have ever tasted!

 Rainbow Chard

Sweet Tender Carrots

Vibrant Cauliflower

I hope you are planning a trip to your farmers’ market this weekend.

I would love to walk through the market with you, Aimee. Have you ever been to the Beaverton market? If no, I hope you make it out there some Saturday.

I would love to meet you there someday and buy some of the specialty trail mixes that you’ve shown on here before…even thinking of them makes me hungry:)

What beautiful produce and flowers. The artichokes are gorgeous and there is such a huge assortment Cathy. I’m going to the farmer’s market tomorrow and can’t wait to see what’s available.

I know how lucky I am, Marie. My market is overwhelming because it is so big and you can find almost any local produce you could want there. And the prepared foods will knock your socks off. I’m already planning my shopping list for tomorrow.

I’ll say it once again, Cathy….you have the BEST farmers market! And they put an enormous effort into displaying their fruits and veggies beautifully. Who could resist?

Hi Barbara – Yes, the vendors create amazing displays of their produce. The tables are piled high at the opening bell and completely empty when the closing bell rings. It’s really something to see.

The marvellous colours mean you’d go even if you didn’t want food, right? Not that anyone in their right mind wouldn’t want food, but you know what I mean!!!

Hi Oz – It’s almost overwhelming to stroll through the market and take in all the colors and smells of fresh fruit. I can’t imagine resisting the temptation to buy things – I usually overdo it and end up eating zucchini and green beans for breakfast during the week. No complains.

I always love the photos from your market. It is so big and has a wonderful variety. We have three vendors at our town market, the two other towns close by have about six and eight.

I have never seen a blooming artichoke. Wow, that’s gorgeous! We’re going to start growing our own artichokes, this year. Why not? I live in the perfect climate, and my brother swears they are easy to grow. I love your Farmer’s Market photos. The colors are amazing, and it’s a photographer’s paradise.
