Kate's Martha Washington Casserole
  • 8 ounces wide egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1-1/2 pound ground chuck
  • 2 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 8 ounces cottage cheese
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ⅓ cup chopped green onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Cook noodles and drain.
  2. Cook meat, discard any liquid. Add tomato sauce and remove from heat.
  3. Combine the cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, green onion and seasonings in a bowl.
  4. Butter a small casserole dish. Place a layer of noodles across the bottom of the dish. Distribute half of the cheese mixture over the noodles in small spoonfuls. Spread half of the meat mixture over the cheeses. Repeat the layers, ending up with meat mixture.
  5. Top with a small amount of grated cheddar cheese if desired. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Serves 6.
